Report: Twitter Plans To Introduce 2-Step Authentication

Following in the footsteps of Google and other sites, Twitter is reportedly planning on introducing a two-step authentication procedure for users attempting to log into their accounts on the social site, The Guardian reported Monday afternoon, citing a Twitter job listing for a "product security software engineer," with the following description:

Do you like to code? Do you like security? Have we got the perfect position for you! Twitter’s Product Security team is hiring engineers to build a more secure platform and user experience... 

Opportunities
Design and develop user-facing security features, such as multifactor authentication and fraudulent login detection.
Twitter declined to comment when asked by TPM about the job and future user-facing product plans. Currently, the website only users a simple username and password sign-in, though a CAPTCHA appears after multiple incorrect login attempts. Screenshot below:



The Guardian's report of the job listing and Twitter's plans to introduce more robust security features come after the website reported late Friday that it was the victim of a sophisticated hacking attempt that resulted in up to 250,000 accounts being potentially compromised. Twitter then reset the passwords for all users potentially impacted by the breach.
