In the technology rumor mill, the existence of a potential iWatch is impossible to ignore, but will Samsung beat Apple to this wearable tech party? On Friday morning, alleged screenshots of the OS powering a Samsung Galaxy smartwatch surfaced online. When you start assembling pieces of the puzzle things get rather tantalizing.
Let’s start back in January when SamMobile claimed it was “100% confirmed” that Samsung’s next flagship smartphone — likely the Galaxy S IV — was codenamed “Altius(J).” The site listed details suggesting that the phone would feature wireless charging and begin shipping April 15, 2013.
The Galaxy S III was released in May of 2012, and the Galaxy S II was released in May 2011. SamMobile’s date may or not be accurate, but there’s an established precedent for Samsung releasing the anticipated Galaxy S IV before this summer.
This morning, SlashGear obtained screenshots from a Korean message board. Featured prominently in one leaked screen are the words “Samsung Galaxy Altius.” But these are obviously not from a smartphone OS. These screenshots carried a 500×500 resolution and suggest a black and white LCD display.
