Gas prices continue steady increase, up 10 cents in Orlando

After last week's 16-cent increase, gas prices in metro Orlando jumped even higher this week to $3.59 per gallon — 10 cents more than the previous week, AAA reports.
Thanks to the snowstorm in the Northeast, better than expected growth in China and the ongoing switch to the summer blend fuel, prices at the pump are being pushed higher than in the past few weeks.
And it doesn’t look like it’s going to stop, as experts say gas prices will see a similar trend to last year, with prices peaking in April.
“Gas prices are still forecast to peak in April, so it’s likely motorists will see pump prices steadily increase during the next couple of months,” said Jessica Brady, AAA spokeswoman, The Auto Club Group. “However, the national average is not expected to exceed $4 a gallon this year for regular unleaded
gasoline.”
The national average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline increased 7 cents to $3.58 while Florida’s average rose 8 cents to $3.64 per gallon.
A barrel of oil closed Friday at $95.72 on the New York Mercantile Exchange, a $2.05 drop from the previous week’s price.
